The main blog scripts are Blogger and WordPress.  Although they have their own individual ways to connect similar blogs together, there are some means used by both kinds.  Using these various social connections or tags and links can work to help you get more web site blog traffic.  At the very least the blogger needs to learn how to use Technorati tags to tag every key word in individual posts.  It can be done manually, but for WordPress there is a plugin called SimpleTags used to automate the process. Some of the blog communities like Typepad won't allow you to install plugins; so it's really best to have your own domain and blog on your own hosting account.

If you have a web site and a blog, it only makes sense to connect the two together by placing a feed from the blog into your web page.  Web page traffic goes to the blog and blog traffic visits the web site.  They complement each other. 

One more invaluable tool for bloggers is Trackback links to popular sites.  If you comment on a post on another blog, make sure you set up an appropriate trackback for it.  This is all free blog traffic.

Now you can have all the top rated plugins and trackbacks and tags in the world, but if your blog does not have copious unique content, it will all be for nothing.  There has to be something of value there or no one will want to read it; so the main thing is to find a subject which you know and love and make yourself write about it.  If you can just get focused and begin, you will get better at it as you progress.

If you are the billiant, kind and helpful person everyone talks about; then you will find success (or it will find you), but if you just throw up flat pages and expect the world to come running to find your ads, you will remain unknown.  Conversation is the current of success.
